論文要旨 |
Interannual co-variability between Sea Ice Concentrations (SICs) averaged over
February and March and one-month leading wind speeds at 1000 hPa is studied
for the Okhotsk Sea during the period from 1980 to 2003 by a Singular Value
Decomposition analysis. The fist SVD mode (SVD1) exhibits overall increase and
decrease of SICs with large amplitudes in climatological marginal ice zone
accompanied by westerly wind anomalies over it. The second SVD mode (SVD2) is
characterized by meridional dipole in the climatological marginal ice zone and
by circular wind anomalies around the Okhotsk Sea. Accompanied regressions of
1000 hPa geopotential heights (z1000) for SVD1 are characterized by SLP
difference between the strong negative maximum in the Bering Sea and weaker
positive maximum in the northwestern North Pacific, while regressions for SVD2
resemble North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) pattern and Arctic Oscillation (AO)
pattern. Consequently, SVD1 is related to relatively local atmospheric
circulation anomalies over the Bering Sea and the northwestern North Pacific,
while SVD2 is associated with larger-scale atmospheric variability over the
Northern Hemisphere.
