Watters (ネバダ大学教授) 『Significance of rock mass strength results and stability calculations to edifice and flank instability, Cascade Range Volcanoes, USA』 時・場所:5/17 (月) 17:00-18:00 理学部5号館201 Utilizing rock strength results from field and laboratory studies permitted the strength of surface rock exposures to be used to calculate the confined rock mass strength for potential edifice and flank failure surfaces at depth. The confined strength results are applicable to catastrophic deep-seated and shallow volcano failures which result in devastating debris avalanches and lahars.The strength results indicate that non-uniform rock mass strength is normal at the edifice and flank, with portions composed of stronger rock in one area and a weak rock mass at other locations. Examples of slope stability calculations are presented from areas where historical instability has occurred on Mount Rainier, Mount Hood, and Mount Adams.
